Vertical Garden

We recently did a winter wedding at Lourensford for a couple who wanted something totally different  to your usual white weddings. The groom’s dad is the biggest supplier of foliage in the Western Cape, so we had access to all this wonderful greenery straight from the Nikwaflora farm. We decided to create four big ‘green’ paintings, to create the look of a vertical garden in the venue. A labour intensive process of weaving individual leaves on to a wire screen, but I really love how it brought the outdoors in. Unfortunately we were still assembling them when the pictures were taken, so no pictures of the final set-up, but it looked like a magical garden at night lit up with some spot lights from below.

My friend JaniB came to document the process that took three of us ( Nina and Nerine I couldn’t have done it without you – x ) about six hours to complete.
